Queering Space, Designing Collectivity

The prevailing crisis of housing affordability prevents equitable access to adequate living standards while political and economic pressures further regulate and standardize how bodies should dwell and behave in their daily lives. In such a context, could queering space challenge those prescriptive dynamics? Can designers rethink design processes to center the othered, the non-normative, in spatial conceptions? How can marginalized bodies and behaviors become catalysts in reimagining the way we design living spaces?

Exutoire (Bui Quy Son (he/him & Paul-Antoine Lucas (he/him)) is a Hanoi-based queer critical spatial practice that investigates social, spatial, and material justice in and through architecture.
